benjamin turner

Benjamin Turner

Rap Club CIC (London)

Ben originally started as a jazz musician, but turned to education, becoming a teacher in 2016. During a detention he set in which a young person opened up to him through rap, Ben’s approach changed, teaching himself to understand the cultures of his kids and championing this through a Rap Club. The project quickly grew beyond the school, and as young people became ready to pursue careers in the industry, he adapted the project to more reflect and engage with industry. It now supports and engages young talent across London.

romsey mill

Romsey Mill

(East of England)

Romsey Mill studios offers a place for young people to hang out even if they are not readily interested in music themselves, or want to give it a go for the first time. They regularly engage with young people involved in drug dealing, gangs, knife crime and various other criminal activities, as well as mental health struggles and other needs in a welcoming environment free from judgement. Through music, Romsey Mill are able to provide support where needed, and also appropriately challenge behaviours and mindsets which may be harmful, as well as recording and making music.
