Vale Sounds

Exciting new music industry experience opportunity for Tameside and Oldham’s young people

January 2021

Young people in Tameside and Oldham are being offered a unique training opportunity in 2021: to join Bangdrum’s Vale Sounds initiative and gain valuable music industry experience.

Funded by Youth Music, twenty enthusiastic and motivated young people aged between 16 and 21 from Tameside and Oldham will have the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals to kit out The Vale as it prepares to launch in summer 2021 following a period of investment and transformation.

From spring 2021, aspiring musicians, technicians and promoters will learn new skills and put them into practice in a real-time professional setting and help to launch The Vale at a key opening event.

Each discipline will have different opportunities in which to participate:

  • Musicians will need to be a confident instrumentalist or vocalist with a desire to perform on stage and collaborate with others ahead of a house band performance on launch night.
  • Aspiring technicians should be interested in sound engineering and lighting design and enjoy hands-on learning.
  • Potential promoters must be excited about music and the arts with an interest in how the music business works and a desire to communicate about the project to the world.

Applications to the scheme are open now and close on 1 February 2021
